  Tries to create the "image" of good health care, as opposed to actually creating better health care. This can be seen by his associating with a medical center that is 1,580 miles away (The Mayo Clinic). Still untold is exactly how does this improve health care at NCH? Since this association I have observed the following: 1) last December 2012 a patient was discharged from the ER with a "finger infection." I saw the patient 2-3 days later and diagnosed the patient with a limb threatening blood clot to his wrist that embolized from his heart due to atrial fibrillation. Was the doctor too busy to discuss this with the Mayo Clinic. Just how could an ER doctor miss this diagnosis or fail to appreciate the seriousness of the patient's problem; 2) At the hospital where he is CEO, multiple doctors accidentally cut the median nerve during an unnecessary "endoscopic carpal tunnel release." 3) ER staff missed (on multiple occasions) the diagnosis of a rare auto-immune disease in two patients; 4) has combative personality as demonstrated by: a) attempts to keep the Cleveland Clinic out of Naples, stating Naples already had a cardiac surgery unit; he petitioned the Florida Board of Medicine to prohibit the Cleveland Clinic from coming to Naples, thus ensuring NCH would not have any competition; 5) Insisted all cardiologists who had staff privileges at NCH to become employed by NCH for a very low salary, thus earning millions of dollars for NCH, something that the Board of Trustees rewarded him with a one million dollar bonus at the end of 2012; 6) Allowed an orthopaedic surgeon to continue to have staff privileges despite repeated acts of malpractice and who was arrested in Naples Police Sting by soliciting sex from an undercover officer; 7) allowed his staff at NCH to "bully" a staff surgeon who was transgender and allowing certain members of the staff to file false reports, in particular an orthopaedic surgeon who is now retired and who at the time was having an affair with a 28 year old nurse which resulted in the surgeon's divorce from his wife.- a Doctor Cal English; 8) sued over and over an OB-GYN doctor who built a competing outpatient surgery center and "birthing center." Despite his claims of improving care (now he creates the illusion of quality care), he must advertise over and over the services of NCH on TV and in the newspapers.
